Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini dies in South Africa aged 72

As custodian of Zulu traditions and customs, he revived many cultural practices together with Umhlanga – also called the Reed Dance ceremony. Seen by some as patriarchal, the ceremony is claimed to be aimed toward celebrating virginity amongst women and younger girls and elevating consciousness about HIV/Aids in a province with among the highest charges of an infection.
